ABC See, Hear, Do: Learn to Read 55 Words
This is a guest post written by Stefanie Hohl
ABC See, Hear, Do: Learn to Read 55 Words is a new book that teaches letter sounds and early reading skills in a fun and engaging way.
Each letter includes an animal picture that teaches a hand motion for that sound. This combination of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles increases phonemic awareness and makes it easier for kids to remember each sound.
After learning only a few letter sounds, kids can start blending the sounds together to form words. This method of learning to read is fun and inspires confidence in kids.
I have five children and taught all of them to read. This was often a frustrating task, and I often thought to myself that there must be a better way. By the time I had my fifth child, I decided to develop my own method of teaching reading. These ideas are not new – hand motions have been used before to teach letter sounds. However, it has never been available in an easy-to-use picture book. With this one book, your child can learn all his letter sounds and learn to read 55 simple words. At the back of the book are almost 100 additional words your child can practice reading.
I used this book to teach my son Nathan to read. He loved making the hand motions and learned his sounds and how to read the words quickly. I then passed the book on to a friend to try with her son. When I did, Nathan cried and begged to have his book back. That’s when I knew this was a winner. I think the ability to read the words in the book gave Nathan confidence and inspired him to start sounding out words in other books.
I want to share this book with parents and children because I have seen it work. I’ve seen the big smile on a child’s face when she sounds out her first word. I’ve seen the excitement when a child is eager to read another word, then another.
If you have a child that is ready to learn letter sounds or ready to read, I hope you will try this book. Check out my book trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0fxow2LFC8 to see the book in action. Buy it on Amazon or at your local bookstore.
